Say Goodbye to Manual Data Aggregation and Reconciliation
And Say Hello to Automated, Accurate, and Complete Investment Insights With Clearwater
Clearwater completely automates the time-consuming, and error-prone reconciliation process that has long been the “status quo” of accounting for your investment portfolio. Clearwater’s three-step data aggregation, reconciliation, and validation process doesn’t require any data entry, spreadsheets, or manual manipulation of your investment data to get the information you need.
This unmatched process provides the foundation for precise and timely, audit-quality investment data in Clearwater’s integrated Accounting, Compliance, Performance, and Risk reporting and analytics solution.
Clearwater’s Aggregation, Reconciliation and Validation Process – Three Steps to Audit-Quality Investment Data
Step 1: Daily Aggregation From Safekeeping Locations and Asset Managers
Clearwater automatically extracts cash, positions, and transactions daily from all your safekeeping entities. Wherever a company’s assets are held – whether they are in a custody account with a major bank, in a safekeeping account, or in a state deposit – Clearwater reaches out to more than 350 separate financial institutions daily and automatically extracts holdings data.
Step 2: Automatic Data Integration From Third-Party Providers
Once the positions are extracted and loaded into the Clearwater system, they are combined with the Clearwater Security Master and pricing information gathered from third-party data sources, including S&P, Fitch, Moody’s, Thomson Reuters, and others.
Step 3: Thorough Reconciliation and Data Validation
Clearwater’s proprietary software reconciles every position in every portfolio automatically on a daily basis, ensuring an unparalleled level of accuracy and immediacy. Exceptions that the system cannot reconcile are flagged and individually investigated by a dedicated account manager.
“Clearwater's web-based platform is very robust and reconciles to the custodian daily. Clearwater also provides SOC 1 Type II, so you can rely on their accounting instead of all the different reports from your managers. In short, it's great!”
–Bruce Edlund, Senior Corporate Treasury Manager at Citrix
The result is a virtual view of the portfolio, fully reconciled and validated daily. Complex calculations are applied to this new set of aggregated, reconciled, and validated data and made available to clients via Clearwater’s integrated Accounting, Compliance, Performance, and Risk reports. This process provides the foundation for Clearwater’s market-leading, web-based investment portfolio reporting and analytics solution. As a result, clients receive unprecedented portfolio accuracy, integration, and transparency.
